Learn to Sail Clinic - Beginner J24 (September 13, 2026)

The SAYC Sailing Center Beginner Learn to Sail clinic is taught on the J/24 keelboat, pictured above, and consists of a six-hour day filled with classroom lessons, rigging demonstrations, land drills, a long water session, de-rigging and de-brief. In this beginner clinic you will learn these skills:

Basic Knot Tying

Breakdown of the day is as follows:

1. 1.5 hours of on-land instruction

2. 30 minute hands-on rigging demonstration

3. 3 hour on-water session – boat handling, sailing upwind and downwind, mooring, docking, and basic knot tying

4. 1 hour de-rigging, cleaning, and classroom debrief

Please bring your PFD (we have loaners if you do not), closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, a water bottle and lunch/snacks. Optional items include sunglasses, hats, towel, and a change of clothes.

*All participants must have a yearly Electronic Waiver on file before clinic begins.
