Opti Learn to Sail on Saturdays!

Did you miss Sail Camp this summer, or did you only attend 1 week and want to learn more? Our Opti Learn to Sail program is for you! On select Saturdays this fall, your child will learn step by step how to sail an Opti on their own, outlined below:

Saturdays from 10:00am to 3:00pm

Opti Learn to Sail is designed for beginners with little to no sailing experience. By the end of the four week session, your child will learn these skills:

Parts of the boat

Rigging/de-rigging

Steering, body positioning, and sailing mechanics

Capsize and recovery

Launching and docking

Points of sail and sail trim

How to tack and gybe

Basic rules of the road

Beach landing and safety position

Proper cleaning and stowing of sailing equipment

Basic knot tying

Your child will have two on-water sessions per day, including swim breaks and lunch break, as well as daily knot tying sessions before dismissal.

Fall sailing program Handbook and QR code sent upon registration. Please read through Handbook and save QR for daily pick-up and drop-off. 

In the event of foul weather, your child will remain under our large, covered deck taking part in STEAM activities until 3:00pm pick up time. Activities include boat building, burgee making, and many other sailing related educational activities.
