It is difficult to name another sporting disciple that teaches the amount of life lessons learned through time on the water. Self-confidence, work ethic, spatial awareness, weather knowledge, teamwork, engineering, history and patience are just a few of the many benefits sailing brings. Unplugging and adventuring is a must for all - give your child a lifelong skill set and be amazed at how they grow - send them to SAYC Sailing Center!
We have an established Summer Sail Camp program that is open to all children aged 6 – 17, operating annually from May through August with a weekly Monday through Friday schedule from 9:00am – 3:00pm. It is designed to both introduce the basics of sailing and seamanship and build on existing sailing skills. Children learn to sail on Optimist sailboats, 420 sailboats, and Laser sailboats, as well experience sailing on a multi-hull Hobie Cats and a Flying Scot. In addition to Sail Camp, we offer an Adventure Camp for kids aged 8 – 17, and a half-day Little Skippers Camp for children aged 6 – 7 (9:30am- 1:00pm), with additional full day care available.
Summer Camp Options:
Sail Camp is for all ages 8 - 17. It is designed to both introduce the basics of sailing and seamanship and build on existing sailing skills. From adventure to racing, your child will take on the water each day and learn to command their own boats. There are three levels to choose from based on age and experience, please choose the appropriate group for each child. Monday to Friday 9:00am to 3:00pm.
Adventure Camp is also for all ages 8 - 17. Utilizing kayaks, SUPs (stand-up paddle boards), sailboats and more, your child(ren) will learn about the Salt Run environment through exploration and adventure. Daily challenges, scavenger hunts, picnics, swimming and water games are just a few of the activities your child will experience throughout the week. Your child will not learn how to sail their own boat, but will experience sailing on multiple boats. Groups are split by age, please choose the appropriate group for each child. Monday to Friday 9:00am to 3:00pm.
*Minimum participation required to fill each age bracket for Adventure Camp. Should minimums not be met, there will be one combined Adventure Camp group that week (ages 8 – 17).
