Private Sailing Lesson at SAYC
This is a three-hour lesson and will be taught on the 420 sailboat pictured below. Please familiarize yourself prior to the lesson if possible. Be sure to fill out the SAYC Learn to Sail waiver and attach to your registration form.

Sail Director Marissa Burrier will be coaching an advanced 420 racing clinic for all adult dingy sailors. The clinic will focus on mechanics, boat handling, mark roundings, starts and more.
Clinic starts at 10am, with a lunch break from 12:30-1pm at SAYC.
Designed for SAYC Dinghy Championship Series sailors, all others with racing experience are welcome. Minimum participation of 6 sailors required.
Sail Camp - Opti I (Ages 8 & 9 ONLY)
Monday to Friday 9:00am to 3:00pm
Sail Camp - Opti I is designed for beginners with little to no sailing experience. By the end of the week, your child will learn these skills:
While daily Sail Camp structure varies by program, your child will have two on-water sessions per day, including swim breaks, snack breaks, a lunch break, and daily knot tying sessions before dismissal.
*Skill levels are assessed on the first day of camp. If your child has not participated in our Sail Team program or does not have racing experience, their first week of camp needs to be in Opti I. If it is determined that your child needs to be in a different group, you will be notified.
Each sailor will receive their Sail Camp shirt on Thursday afternoon pick-up. Friday is Sail Camp shirt day - every camper should wear their shirt all day.

Sail Camp - Club 420 (Ages 13 - 17)
Sail Camp - Club 420 is designed for an older age group. The 420 sailboat is a double-handed, heavier and more challenging boat, requiring a certain body size and weight. This program can accommodate all skill levels, beginner, intermediate and advanced sailors welcome! By the end of the week, your child will learn these skills:
*420 participants must be 13 - 17 and must weight a minimum of 130lbs. If your child is 13-15 and does not meet these requirements, please register them for the older Opti beginner group or the Opti intermediate-advanced group. For safety reasons, the only exceptions to this policy is proficiency in sailing a 420 with racing experience.
Adventure Camp (Ages 8 - 12)
Utilizing kayaks, SUPs (stand-up paddle boards), sailboats and more, your child(ren) will learn about the Salt Run environment through exploration and adventure. Daily challenges, scavenger hunts, picnics, swimming and water games are just a few of the activities your child will experience through the week. Your child will not learn how to sail their own boat, but will experience sailing on multiple boats. Currently weeks 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 9 are available for registration.
*Minimum participation required to fill each age bracket for Adventure Camp. Should minimums not be met, there will be one combined Adventure Camp group that week (ages 8 – 17).

LEARN HOW TO SAIL @ SAYC!
The SAYC Beginner Learn to Sail clinic consists of a six-hour day filled with classroom lessons, rigging demonstrations, land drills, a long water session, de-rigging and de-brief. In the beginner clinic you will learn these skills on the Flying Scot and Hobie Getaway sailboats:

Tacking & Gybing Mechanics
Rigging and De-rigging
Rules of the Road
Breakdown of the day is as follows:
1. 2.5 hours of on-land instruction, including rigging demonstration + tacking & gybing exercise off dock
2. 30 minute lunch break w/ Q&A
3. 2 hour on-water session – boat handling, sailing upwind and downwind
4. 1 hour de-rigging & de-brief

Little Skippers Camp (Ages 5 - 7)
Monday to Friday 9:30am to 1:00pm
Designed to introduce water safety basics and a develop a love for the sea, young children will enjoy smaller class sizes and experience sailing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, swimming, and more! Currently weeks 3, 5, and 7 are available for registration.
*SAYC Little Skippers is a half-day program, with pick up at 1:00pm. To stay the full day (9:30am - 3:00pm), you must register your Little Skipper for the Extended Day event.

You must be registered for Little Skippers - Week 3 event in order to sign up.
Extended Day is from 1:00pm - 3:00pm, M - F.
The SAYC Intermediate Learn to Sail clinic consists of a six-hour day filled with classroom lessons, a rigging refresher, two long water sessions, a knot tying lesson, and ends with a de-rigging and thorough de-brief. In the intermediate clinic you will learn these skills on the Flying Scot and Hobie Getaway sailboats:
Upwind Efficiency and Tacking Proficiency
Downwind Efficiency and Gybing Proficiency
Docking and Beaching
Man Overboard
Rigging and De-rigging Refresher
Rules of the Road (on Figure 8 Course)
Basic Knot Tying (figure 8, bowline, cleat hitch)
1. 1 hour of on-land instruction, including points of sail and sail trim overview, rigging re-fresher, and dock/beach launching steps
