Please use this event to pay for the SAYC member boat checkout fee.  Once you have completed the checkout process, you will be a member of the SAYC Open Sailing program - you may take paddle sport boards out, with guests, at your leisure. 

SAYC member check out process is detailed below:

To become certified to use a SAYC kayak or SUP, an SAYC member has to satisfactorily complete the SAYC challenge test for that particular type of paddle sport board.

Challenge tests are part of an orientation and can be arranged with the SAYC Sail Director or an authorized volunteer and will take up to 1 hour. Cost $30, members only.

Paddle sport boards will be available as SAYC Sail Director/SAYC Management/SAYC Authorized Volunteers are available.

When a member passes a challenge test for a board, they will be able to use that board at their leisure.

The orientation and challenge test will cover the following points:

• 1)     Safety
• 2)     Rules & Regulations
• 3)     Rigging, Beach Launching
• 4)     Challenge Test – Capsize & Recovery
• 5)     Challenge Test – Paddling, standing, etc.
• 6)     De-rigging and Stowing
• 7)     Board Sign Out/Board Return Procedure
• 8)     SAYC Release of Liability
