SAYCSC Sail Team Racing Program

Participation requires basic boat and sailing knowledge; sailors must have at least two weeks of Sail Camp Opti 2 or previous experience sailing an Optimist, or Sail Director approval. The Development Team focus is on safety and fun, learning to sail upwind and downwind with awareness and proper mechanics, how to stop and start, dock, rig and derig, navigate a racecourse, understand a starting sequence and be introduced to race flags and basic racing rules, preparing sailors for racing in a fun way. Sailors learn these skills utilizing the SailCube Opti. Development Team practice twice a week on Saturdays and Tuesday afternoons.
