Keelboat Camp (Ages 13 - 17)
Monday to Friday 9:00am to 3:00pm

This intro to Keelboat Camp is new in summer 2026 and offers a special experience for local youth. Utilizing the J/24 sailboat and limited to 6 per group, your child will learn basic sailing maneuvers (tacks, gybes, steering and sail trim), crew roles and teamwork, basic navigation rules (understanding right of way and reading channel markers), and essential safety practices that build confidence and safe sailing habits for life. Each day sailors will work as a team to rig, launch and sail around Salt Run and local inshore waterways while taking time to explore islands, observe wildlife, and have fun! Experience "big boat" sailing, make lasting friendships, and more.
Weeks 2, 4, 6, and 8 are reserved for the 10-12 year old group, and weeks 3, 5, and 9 are reserved for the 13-17 year old group. Sailors will end each day with a debrief, knot tying, and Q&A to reinforce the day. These groups will leave the Sailing Center dock each morning and not return until the afternoon; lunches, sunscreen and water bottles will be required at all times.
Each sailor will receive their Sail Camp shirt (included in registration fee) on Thursday afternoon pick-up. Friday is Sail Camp shirt day - every camper should wear their shirt to camp for the day. Please choose size wisely, you will only receive what is ordered on registration form. Shirts are given out on the first week of attendance only. There is an option to purchase additional shirts on the registration form.
*We will have a new color shirt this summer!
