LEARN HOW TO SAIL @ SAYCSC!
The SAYC Sailing Center intermediate Learn to Sail clinic consists of a six-hour day filled with classroom lessons, rigging demonstrations, land drills, a long water session, de-rigging and de-brief. In this intermediate clinic you will learn these skills:
-Parts of the Boat review
-Points of Sail + Sail Trim review
*focus on upwind sailing efficiency and reading telltales
-Tacking & Gybing review
*focus on downwind sailing efficiency and performing controlled gybes
-Docking instruction and practice
-PIW rescue instruction and practice
-Rigging and De-rigging
-Rules of the Road
-Basic Knot Tying
Intermediate clinic will be taught on the Flying Scot sailboat, pictured below:

Breakdown of the day is as follows:
1. 1.5 hours of on-land instruction, including rigging demonstration
2. 30 minute lunch break w/ Q&A
3. 3 hour on-water session – boat handling, sailing upwind and downwind, docking, PIW and safety position
4. 1 hour de-rigging & de-brief
Please bring your PFD (we have loaners if you do not), closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, and water bottle. Optional items include hats, towel, and a change of clothes. Lunch available for purchase at SAYC, lunch orders placed at start of clinic.
